Hamid Mahdavy Hamid Mahdavy was diagnosed with LVH (left ventricular hypertrophy) at age 20. He remained asymptomatic until age 51, when he developed atrial fibrillation. Hamid’s condition continued to deteriorate for more than 10 years. Since receiving a heart transplant on Nov 2, 2016, he has dedicated his life to giving back to the community and is an active volunteer for HeartBrothers. Hamid works with New England Donor Services and Charlene Slaver, the mother of Joey Slaver, the 23-year-old donor whose heart Hamid received, to raise awareness and promote organ donation. Last but not least, Hamid is helping to raise his grandson.
